Hello, My name is Ms. Janet Porter and I enjoy teaching in the 1’s class at Providence Preschool.
This coming year will be my 13th year teaching the 1’s class at Providence and my 18th year teaching PreSchool.
It is my labor of love.
My husband, John and I have been married for 27 years. Our daughter Jenna who is our pride and joy is a Junior at UNCC. We are members at First Baptist Church Charlotte.
I am so thrilled to be spending time with your sweet little “one”. I have been praying for our time together to allow your little one to begin to feel a love for school and learning that will increase every year while building self confidence and gaining the knowledge of how wonderfully they are made and that they are the very apple of God’s eye.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this precious season in their lives. It’s a gift to me.
I always look forward to getting to know you and all of our new friends.
To begin, our class will spend time getting comfortable with each other while adjusting to our new schedules. We will be using “The Beginner’s Bible” for preschoolers Curriculum. We will engage in the Bible stories through hands on learning, music and play.
I will be sharing our daily schedule with you also. Sometimes it needs a little tweaking as we get into our routine and learn the dynamics of our own special class. Also, this gives me plenty of flexibility for lots of comforting when needed. However, I do find that when we are following a schedule it helps even the “littles” feel more comfortable in knowing what comes next in our day.
As your child’s teacher please know you are always welcome to contact me anytime and I am always open for ways to help you and your little one adjust to your new school schedule. Looking forward to a great year!

My name is Beth Sharpe and this will be my second year working at the preschool. My first year was in the office and I loved every minute of it! I got to know a lot of little ones in all of the age groups. I retired from Atrium Health after 30 years and decided I didn't like being idle. Preschool is the perfect fit for me as I have always loved the little ones. I have two beautiful grandkids myself. I look forward to all the wonderful kids in my class this year.
Hello! My name is Ms. Heather. I am a Charlotte native. I have lived in Harrisburg for years and love it! My hobbies include woodworking and building furniture, making homemade candles for loved ones, cooking, trail hiking, gardening, swimming, and going to museums. I have spent the past 13 years working in childcare, with all ages. I took the child development pathway program in High School, where I did a two year internship at headstart, and after I graduated I went to RCCC for early childhood education. I also have 4 children of my own. I am thrilled to be here and be a part of the amazing team at Providence Preschool. It is my calling in life to help guide and teach children with love, compassion, understanding, and care.
This is my eight year teaching at Providence Preschool and I am so excited to be teaching 3 year olds! It is an honor to be part of this special time in their lives. My educational and professional background started as an RN, but as my children grew older, I was drawn to the growth and development of young children. I am so thankful to be able to spend my days teaching children in an environment that will help them grow to be servants of God. This is the true blessing!
Ms. Lauren
It is such a blessing to spend my days with the children at Providence Preschool. I have a degree in Elementary Education from UNCC. After college I taught Kindergarten before taking some time off to be home with my kids. As my kids got older I missed being in the classroom and joined the Providence Preschool team. The 4's class holds a special place in my heart. I strive to create a fun environment where the children can learn through play and work on important social skills that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. I believe that God has created each child to be unique and I love to see their personalities shine through.
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Colossians 3:17
.
I have been teaching for 20 years, loving and enjoying every minute of it.
I have a degree in Child Family Studies. It is a true blessing to teach young children, watching them grow academically, socially and spiritually throughout their time with me. It is a great reward knowing that I am a part of your child’s future!I look forward to building a strong relationship with the children and their families!
